The Quest of Twitch

I guess it’s easy to become one of those starry-eyed gamers who dream of becoming a type of celebrity – being successful in the world of streaming games for others to watch. In my limited experience, anyone seems to be able to do it! Granted, there are those that engage, who are professional players, who are enjoyable to watch – but there are others which I seem difficult to understand why they have well, any number of viewers while I may play alone for a few hours with regular twitter notices to a big Zero.

Yes, this is a little moan, probably because I’ve been ill today and I’m exhausted but there does seem to be a lot to learn. So much in fact that I simply don’t know where to start! With work and family time is limited on how much I can invest in learning and creating but I know it’s something I have to do. It’s just I don’t necessarily know where! I know to build a community. I’d like to think that I could stream and play reasonably. But where to begin!

So that is my quest for the next few weeks; to find out more, to educate myself by trying to read more into this alien world which, looking from the outside, seems so simple to crack. But simple it certainly is not!

A little moan, a short topic for today before I sleep and dream of…something.

I would welcome feedback though – so please do let me know what you have found successful! Gn.

The thing I struggle with most is time. There’s always something that needs to be done and it can sometimes be hard to fit in gaming, let alone streaming, on a regular basis.

It’s almost as if some streamers don’t have a job / family / life in general to be able to do as much as they do! Let us know if you manage to find the magic formula. πŸ˜‰

Thanks Kim, that does seem to be it though!
There is either some super supportive other half or they’re a lot younger and are able to spend most of their waking life streaming or developing.
I can stream regularly, I try to 3-4 times a week even if just for 2 hours a time and that parts fine – I enjoy it. But it’s about getting those first few dedicated followers who enjoy watching and chatting. That’s the first step I’m finding difficult.
I may need to invest in a better PC to expand my opportunities – it won’t be the answer but hopefully it’ll help!

Luckily my other-half is a gamer too and would happily spend every evening playing video games, but unfortunately it’s just not possible sometimes. πŸ˜‰

Do you have a regular streaming schedule? Let me know and we’ll stop by when we can!

I’ve got a current schedule for 10-12pm. I know that’s late, but it’s when the rest of the fam are in bed and I can safely have the TV/room to myself for a few hours! But I haven;t made a specific schedule, just most nights. Think that’s a bad thing? And would appreciate it πŸ™‚

Online advice says you should create a schedule and stick to it, so viewers can become familiar with your pattern and the games you play. Unfortunately that tends to be difficult for me as work always seems to get in the way!

I’m usually fast asleep by 10pm… 5am starts aren’t exactly conducive for late-night gaming. πŸ˜‰
